We are committed to making our products more sustainable and doing more to help reduce plastic pollution, so we are extremely proud of the fact our 100% recycled shirts are made from discarded water bottles and salvaged cotton.

We work only with vendors that share the same ideals and commitments to sustainabity that we do, and our shirt and sweatshirt vendor is based in the US, and has a unique method for creating sustainable garments:

Each shirt comes from 8 post-consumer plastic bottles, shredded into flakes, which is then melted into pellets. The pellets are then extruded into yarn that is knitted, cut and sewn into one super-soft tee. The printing process minimizes dyes, completely eliminates plastic packaging, and significantly reduces the use of chemicals, water, and energy.

From our vendor: “First, we collect and sort post-consumer plastic bottles, stripping them of all labels and caps. Next, we salvage cotton from discarded industry scraps, which are also sorted by color and blended with polyester. The reclaimed fiber is then spun into yarn and knit into fabric, which is ultimately cut and sewn into a garment. With our proprietary process, we’re able to make fibers that are “first quality,” which makes them look and feel great.”

Sustainable shirts: our main shirt vendor is based in Charlotte, NC. The recycled plastic bottles and upcycled cotton are sourced within a 150 mile radius of their headquarters. The cutting and sewing is done in their Charlotte facility, as well as a work co-op in Haiti they partner with, which creates sustainable jobs and living wages for hundreds of workers. Haiti’s proximity to the US allows for big global impact with less carbon emissions.

Hats: the hats are manufactured in Bangladesh and Vietnam. Both facilities are BSCI Certified and/or Better Work Certified.  The patches are applied right here in Minneapolis, MN.

The name derives from our love of Minnesota and Minimalism. We combined the two and turned Minimalism into MNimalism!

Minnesota love:

• All the designs celebrate MN and the simple things that make our state so great.
• Our company is based in Minneapolis, MN and we are proud to be a part of the local business community.
• 10% of all proceeds (not just profits) go to a MN environmental charity that the customer can choose from at check out.

Minimalism:

• Minimalist design: Our logo and lettering is influenced by Scandinavian minimalist design. The lettering was inspired by Scandi modern Minimalist design and reduces the M and N to their simplest forms.

Minimal impact:

• 100% recycled shirts are made from discarded water bottles and salvaged cotton.
• Printing process eliminates plastic packaging (shipped in cardboard boxes with no plastic wrap).
• Every decision we make is based on having a minimal impact on the environment.

Minimalist ethos:

• We believe in quality over quantity, and spending your time, energy and money on the few things that truly bring you joy. When you buy a MNIMALIST shirt or hat, you are purchasing something of the highest quality and simple timeless design that you can wear for a long time. 
• We would love it if everyone donated an older piece of clothing they no longer wear when purchasing one of our items in order to simplify their wardrobe and help someone else in the process.
• We believe in supporting small, local companies whenever possible and keeping our money in the community.
