Did you know that prior to 1970, Minnesota provided half of the GLOBAL supply of wild rice?
Large-scale production of wild rice has expanded since, and natural wild rice now accounts for about 10% of today’s global market supply, but Minnesota is still one of the highest producers of hand-harvested wild rice, with annual yield ranging from 4 to 8 million pounds!
The proposed Enbridge pipeline route crosses the wild rice lakes area, and could jeopardize one of our great natural resources.
This Giving Tuesday, Please help us join Friends of the Headwaters in their fight against Enbridge by donating via our GiveMN page here.
