Giving Tuesday! Let’s help Friends of the Headwaters fight the proposed Enbridge pipeline!

Did you know that prior to 1970, Minnesota provided half of the GLOBAL supply of wild rice?  Large-scale production of wild rice has expanded since, and natural wild rice now accounts for about 10% of today’s global market supply, but Minnesota is still one of the highest producers of hand-harvested wild rice, with annual yield ranging from 4 to 8 million pounds! The proposed Enbridge pipeline route crosses the wild rice lakes area, and could jeopardize one of our great natural resources. To gain these certifications, the product must break down within 90 days in commercial compost and 180 days in domestic compost conditions, including worm farm compost.
